Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Is there a charge for disposing of tires?

A. Yes, due to the high overhead of processing the tires we have to charge a nominal fee.

Q. Are there any tires you won't take?

A. No. However we cannot accept uncured rubber because it gums up on our cutters.

Q. Do you accept other products for recycling?

A. No, we only recycle tires.

Q. Are you a licensed processor?

A. Yes, we are licensed by both Missouri and Illinois.

Q. What happens to the tires after you shred them?

A. In Missouri we make a 1" chip which is taken to Ameren UE where they burn the chips with the coal. In Illinois they produce a much smaller material which is used in play-grounds and horse arenas.

Q. We have a farm or property with tires on it, will you come pick up the tires?

A. No, we only have pick up service for businesses who handle tires. Individuals must bring tires to us for disposal. Sorry.

Horse Arena Fill

TIRE SHREDDERS UNLIMITED INTRODUCES THEIR *ARENA FILL*

RUBBER FOOTING FOR INDOOR AND OUTDOOR HORSE ARENAS.

Waste tires have been a disposal problem for years,  but when properly processed they can be a  asset.  Arena Fill is made entirely from recycled tires and is granulated into a 3/8” nugget that is 99.9% wire and contaminate free.  With the proper base and mixture of sand, Arena Fill can add years of riding pleasure to any riding surface.

There are many formulas used when constructing an arena,  but some of the most important things to consider are:

 1.   The base should consist of either a compacted well-graded aggregate or clay.

 2.   The sand used should be screened and cleaned and be a medium course, hard,

quartz sand. Angular in shape versus a rounded river sand.  Machined angular

sand lays flat and will not slide like river sand.  We recommend a 1” layer.

 3.   The top dressing for the arena can come from many different types of materials

but the one that will last the longest and provide the most protection is rubber.

We recommend @ 1-1/2 to 2 inches of arena fill.

 Advantages of Arena Fill:

Will not degrade like other materials

      Greatly reduces dust

      Low freezing point

      Resilient/Elastic

Will not leach contaminates into soil

      Guaranteed to last 8-10 years

 Coverage:

Arena Fill is available either in bulk truck loads or in 1 ton super sacks.

One ton of arena fill material will cover @ 400 sq. ft. 1-1/2 inches deep.
