We accept tires from anyone and we do charge a disposal fee. We take all tires, from a go-cart tire up to OTR Tires.
For businesses located within our service areas we have a pick up service. Our drivers have routes which they follow daily picking up scrap tires for disposal. The drivers will load and count the tires and write up an invoice on the spot. Services can be arranged on a per call in basis or we can set up a schedule that is satisfactory that will help keep the tires cleaned up. (weekly, bi-weekly or monthly)
We also have a portable machine that is used for large jobs. (50,000 or more tires) The cost for hauling and running this machinery is very costly and usually can not be justified for smaller jobs. Our portable machine produces a shred material which can either be hauled back to one of our plants to reduce the size for our end users, or taken to some landfills for disposal.
When the tires have been brought to our location by either and individual, company or our trucks; the tires loaded onto a conveyor belt which goes to the number one shredder. This shredder shreds them into primary shred material. At which time they are dropped off of the shaker screen onto another conveyor belt which takes them to the number two shredder and are re-circulated until they are made into a 1 2" size chip. They then go to a conveyor belt with a magnet, which pulls out any loose wire. The wire is then dropped into a separate pile and the chips go out into the chip pile.
In Missouri the chips are then loaded onto trucks to be transported to Ameren UE where they are mixed with coal and burned as TDF (tire derived fuel).
In Illinois the chips are ran through a rasper which removes more of the wire and is then taken to our screening plant where the rubber is reduced down to 3/4", 1/2" and 1/4". Rubber coming from the screening plant is about 99% wire free, and currently has been used in playgrounds and horse arenas.
We do not store any whole tires on our property, all tires that come through our doors are shredded daily.
